info

REMI and musical collaborator Sensible J are one of the fastest-rising hip-hop acts in Australia.

As well as performing their own sold-out headline tours across Europe and Australia, REMI have also shared the stage with Kendrick Lamar, Danny Brown, Vic Mensa, De La Soul, Joey Bada$$, Blackalicious, Hiatus Kaiyote and were invited to perform Gorillaz tracks with Damon Albarn on each of his Australian shows. With features across international media such as OkayPlayer, Majestic Casual, COLORS, Billboard, NME, MTV Iggy, NPR and shout outs from the likes of hip-hop luminaire Chuck D, REMI’s appeal is as diverse as it is impressive.

REMI’s sophomore LP Divas and Demons was independently released through REMI’s own label imprint House of Beige Records and was nominated for an ARIA Award. The triple j featured album featured the widely loved singles “For Good” featuring Sampa The Great, “Substance Therapy”, and ‘Lose Sleep’ featuring Jordan Rakei and became the duo’s first official ARIA Top 10 record.

Rolling Stone Australia, 4.5 out of 5 stars “A landmark release”

2017 saw REMI return to the UK after being invited by Kate Tempest to perform at The Brighton Festival, a show that saw them play to a sold out Brighton Dome. The duo also teamed up emcee Sampa The Great and headed out on their largest ever Australian National tour selling out venues across the country.

2017 saw REMI nominated for the World famous prestigious U.S. BET Awards.

REMI have also undertaken three European festival tours, UK support tours with Hiatus Kaiyote and Blackalicious and perform at international showcases SXSW and The Great Escape. This builds on a huge 2014 where REMI’s album RAW X INFINITY received immense critical acclaim locally and abroad, landing Feature Album of the Week on triple J, and being awarded the ‘Independent Hip Hop Album of the Year’ by the Australian Independent Record Association (voted by over 450 Australian music industry).

Remi might just be the artist to prove Australia is more than a one hip-hop wonder. The charismatic MC (he performs as REMI) is one of Australia’s hottest properties right now, and that’s no hype – Billboard US
“There’s finally a real feeling that Australia is home to some heavyweight hip hop acts that can compete on the world stage. Nothing is more evident of this than REMI’s banging new track ‘Tyson’ from his award- winning album, Raw X Infinity. The landscape has never looked better for Australian fans of Hip Hop’
and Remi Kolawole is getting in early and staking a claim for the crown”. Itsmykindofscene.com

REMI is a consummate performer. He’s impossibly slick and completely unafraid to shake what his mama gave him (seriously, this dude’s got moves). He knows how to whip the crowd into a frenzy. There’s nowhere for this young artist to go but up. Betting against REMI would be a fool’s move. He’s got the goods”. – themusic.com
