Shapeshifter

May 2007

Niche Productions in association with Syncopated Zen are proud to announce the return of one of New Zealand’s finest live exports: Shapeshifter

After blistering sets at this years Big Day Out & being hand picked by Tool for a support slot to 15,000 at the Myer Music Bowl, Shapeshifter return to Australia for their official ‘Soulstice’ Album launch for the grass roots massive.

Shapeshifter have been heralded as a musical phenomenon for their ground breaking live shows, and have received widespread commercial acclaim for their recorded work. Their reputation was built by a unique approach to electronic music, creating live what had previously been restricted to computer based studio musicians.

‘Soulstice’ has received critical acclaim and ushers in a new direction for the band as pioneers of the heavy soul sound. The live set includes elements of hip hop, soul, dubwise & ragga tones, alongside their trademark live drum and bass. With the lavish vocal styling of the mighty MC Pdigsss up front & Tiki Taane on the desk for that authentic round sound Shapeshifter live is an extraordinary spectacle you can’t miss – don’t sleep!

Special guests Solaa are New Zealand’s key purveyors of Hip Hop, Funk and Soul. The sound is a unique fusion of electronic and organic music formed in the spirit of Jazz improvisation. Rich in instrumentation, with a love for contemporary urban music, Solaa bridges genres, transcending boundaries and redefining hip hop, soul, funk, RnB & Latin flavours.
