V/A - Peter Kruder Private Collection

Peter Kruder’s wonderfully self indulgent Private Collection looks more like some kind of box set, rather than a one disc stroke-fest about the records he fancies when he is drinking fine wine or hooking up in his palatial living room. No disrespect to the man at all. I applaud anyone who can enjoy the finer things in life and he and recording partner Richard Dorfmeister have certainly shared the fruits of their labour with us, the listener. His compilation is incredible. From Tom Waits to Japan to Rokia Traore it’s a phenomenally deep excursion that reminds you of the mastery of Kruder’s own output and where he sources his inspiration from.
