Jazzanova Sydney Show

Sydney Festival – Beck’s Bar
Saturday 20th January 2007

Niche Productions & Future Classic invite you for a night of eclectic summer sounds, from splintered hip hop, dub and jazz beats to what’s becoming known as the new deep house renaissance. There’s dialogue in this sound!

And who better qualified to guide you on this journey than Berlin’s mighty JAZZANOVA, founders of the Sonar Kollektiv. Represented by Alex Barck who makes his first visit to Australian shores, this internationally renowned DJ and producer team have stretched the borders of contemporary club music like no other, with an openness to all kinds of sounds and genres that has seen them spearhead some of the most important musical developments of the last decade. Alex is a deft mixer with skills and taste all rolled into one!

The Jazzanova sound is made complete by the silky vocals of Clara Hill, an important link in Europe’s contemporary soul community, Clara’s new album ‘All I Can Provide’ features collaborations with the likes of King Britt, Vikter Duplaix and George Levin.

To get you in the mood to groove Fat Freddy’s Drop producer and beat technician DJ Fitchie will also be spinning on the night, swapping his MPC for some warm slabs of dub dancefloor vinyl. Expect some signature Freddy’s grooves as well as a few new ones!

Also on a dub tip, local 9 piece the Resurrectors will be showing off their roots reggae style with a live set that has seen them headline Australia’s only dedicated reggae festival as well as supporting key internationals including Fat Freddy’s Drop, Khatchafire and the Black Seeds.

Last but definitely not least local rising star Jamie Lloyd (fresh from his NYE support of Jamie Lidell) will keep you bouncing into the wee hours of the morning, bringing his new album ‘Trouble Within’ to life on stage with the help of Future Classic label mate’s Jimi Polar.
