Kyoto Jazz Massive Sydney Show

KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE (JAPAN)

SATURDAY 10 JUNE / THE BASEMENT, SYDNEY

Niche Productions is proud to present a long weekend workout of top quality dancefloor soul, jazz fusion and broken beats from all corners of the globe!

Headlining a packed bill are Japanese tastemakers KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE who are recognized worldwide for their productions and remix work for labels like COMPOST, SCHEMA, BLUE NOTE and artists such as JAZZANOVA, BEBEL GILBERTO and NICOLA CONTE.

Beginning their musical journey in Kyoto during the mid 90’s, their name originated when GILLES PETERSON profiled them in Straight No Chaser, calling them the KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE! KJM now celebrate their tenth anniversary with main man SHUYA OKINO joining us for a genre bending dj set of freaked-out soulful futurism.

The party also marks the launch of the debut 12 inch ‘Superpeople’ by Sydney jazz/broken beat producer KIDZEN aka CAMERON UNDY. Cameron is a quintessential ‘Future Classic’ having shared the stage with jazz greats such as SAM RIVERS and DON PULLEN whilst also working with cutting edge dj/producers 4HERO, BUGZ IN THE ATTIC and MARK DE CLIVE LOWE.

Kidzen plays live with vocals by Sydney soul/funk icon PAT POWELL, GERARD MASTERS on keys and CAMERON UNDY on bass and beats.

We also welcome back RUSS DEWBURY from the Jazz Rooms in Brighton who joins us for more of his tasteful selections following last year’s highly acclaimed Jazz Bop Australia tour.
