SAFIA ‘Starlight’ Tour

Premiered during their celebrated return to Splendour in the Grass, today SAFIA give us the official release of new single ‘Starlight’, alongside the exciting announcement of an intimate set of East Coast tour dates in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this November. The band will be supported by fellow Canberran Genesis Owusu on all tour dates.

Starlight’ is a step forward in the band’s sound and is a soon-to-be-classic. With sprawling vocals and an intoxicating beat, ‘Starlight’ is ready to be your springtime soundtrack.

Says SAFIA, “At its core Starlight is a song about letting go, and the world that it creates is designed to capture that feeling. In retrospect the song also represents an important shift in perspective, both creatively and personally.”

Continuing their affinity for pushing boundaries, the band have collaborated with local VR/AR artist SUTU on animated single artwork that comes to life with the use of the Eyejack app. Download the ‘EyeJack’ app, tap on ‘SAFIA’ and tap on ‘Launch AR’.

The band is fresh from making their debut appearance in China at Shanghai’s Concrete & Grass Festival and in what will be their first Australian headline tour since 2016, SAFIA is bringing their new show on a special run of intimate East Coast venues (strictly one show per city). They have also been announced on a raft of upcoming festival line ups including This That, Beyond the Valley, Origin Fields, The Grass is Greener, and a headline slot for Corona Sunsets. A firm festival favourite, always delivering “a winning festival set” (The Music), their recent Splendour performance saw them pack out the Mix Up stage and gather rave reviews from media and fans alike.

Released earlier in 2018, previous single ‘Freakin’ Out’ is now at over 1 million streams and also saw the release of a special acoustic version. ‘Cellophane Rainbow’ is sitting at over 2 million streams since its release at the end of 2017 and was the first piece of new music from the band since their acclaimed debut album Internal was released in 2016. Internal landed at #2 on the ARIA Album chart, #1 on the iTunes chart, received ARIA and J Award nominations and saw the band complete a sold-out run of national album shows. 2018 has seen them perform to capacity crowds on the in augural The Drop Festival, and Mountain Sounds Festival.

Get ‘Starlight’ on repeat and grab your tour tickets now as SAFIA’s shows always sell out quickly and you do not want to miss out on their unforgettable live show.
