The Bamboos May Sydney Show

Friday May 22 – Oxford Art Factory

Following on from their debut at this year’s East Coast  Blues and Roots Festival, The Bamboos are heading back to Sydney to play a one off gig at Oxford Art Factory on  Friday May 22.  Last year was a busy year for The Bamboos, with  performances around the country including Parklife (all East Coast shows), playing support slots for Jazz-Funk  legend Roy Ayers and releasing two albums – their third studio album ‘Side-Stepper’ and lead singer Kylie Auldist’s  debut ‘Just Say’. This year they’re showing no signs of slowing down,  playing Bluesfest and backing US legend Betty Harris’ Australian shows, as well as finishing up Kylie’s second  album ‘Made Of Stone’ as well as gearing up to record their next album.

The Melbourne based band are one of the most talked about groups in Modern funk today and have toured
extensively through Europe as well as around Australia. With ‘Just Say’ & ‘Side-Stepper’, their sound has developed to include Rhythm and Blues and Northern Soul, all the while keeping to their gritty funk roots.

Supporting The Bamboos this time is one of New Zealand’s finest acts, Ladi 6 who has just released her debut album ‘Time Is Not Much’. Produced by Mu of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Ladi 6 and DJ Parkes showcase contemporary soul music with tinges of reggae and wobbly bassline business.

Presented by Niche Productions, the show will feature as all ways the super-tight grooves of their eight piece line up as well as the infectious vocals of Kylie Auldist. Stay tuned for ‘Made Of Stone’ and new material from The Bamboos’ front man Lanu in 2009 on Tru Thoughts.
