Thundercat Australian Headline Shows

Niche are proud to present the return of THUNDERCAT to Australia. Having already been announced on the lineups for Sydney City Limits and Golden Plains Festival, A Festival Called Panama, and most recently WOMADelaide, he will play two exclusive headline performances in Brisbane and Melbourne this March.

Forever a wildcat and wild card, he is impossible to tame artistically. A true master of his craft, Thundercat joined thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies as a teenager before spending time on the road and in the studio with everyone from Stanley Clarke to Snoop Dogg to Erykah Badu.

Thundercat is the alter ego of virtuosic bassist / singer Stephen Bruner, a South Los Angeles native who has released critically acclaimed original material on Brainfeeder since 2011. The most recent output – Thundercat’s third full-length studio album Drunk – was released in early 2017 and is a 23-track epic journey into his often hilarious, sometimes dark mind. The follow-up to his widely praised 2015 mini-album The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam finds a few of his friends joining him along the way, including Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington and Brainfeeder mastermind Flying Lotus. Thundercat has also made outstanding contributions to landmark albums by Kamasi Washington (The Epic) and Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp A Butterfly), the latter netting him his first GRAMMY in 2016.

Since its release, Drunk has garnered wide praise including being named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork. He’s been featured in a variety of media outlets talking about everything from his music (Rolling StoneNoisey), to gaming and comics (VultureKotaku) and his distinct style (GQ Style). He also sold out his entire spring North American & European tours.
