Hi Motive

HI MOTIVE is an electronic duo coming out of Inner Sydney, comprised of Matt Rowe and Ed Rose. HI MOTIVE pairs ethereal vocals with deep, driving electronic production. After Triple J Unearthed success with their early singles, ‘Falling’ and ‘Silk’, the duo have furthered their sound on their most recent effort, ‘Gone’. Since forming in January, HI MOTIVE have also been developing on their two-man live show, with recent performances at Jam In A Jar Charity Festival and the Electronic Music Conference (EMC) held in Sydney in November.

‘Gone’ is the third release by HI MOTIVE, which explores the inner narrative of loss and naivety experienced in the fallout of a faltering relationship.

With Ed hailing from Tasmania and Matt from Queensland, the pair first began writing music together in their dorm room at UNSW in 2014. Ed first started out as a drum soloist who began producing his own music in 2013, before collaborating with Matt, a vocalist. After creating indie electronic mixes together in the walls of their dorm room, they moved out together to begin their path to becoming aspiring electronic artists.

Building towards an EP next year, HI MOTIVE are hoping their continued efforts will form the grounding for a debut tour in the near future.
