Niche Announces A New Years Eve With Jon Hopkins (DJ Set)

Niche and Charades are excited to welcome Jon Hopkins back to Sydney for full venue takeover Sydney’s own, Oxford Art Factory on New Years Eve!

Jon Hopkins will offer one of his rare and exclusive DJ sets, while still completing his fifth solo album, whose title remains unconfirmed. Hopkins’ perfectionist and meticulous nature will ensure a uniquely crafted session. In fact, the Englishman typically reconstructs and edits some of his own material to play in his sets, which may also include some compositions that will form part of his much-anticipated new LP.

Hopkins’ discography is already bulging at the seams with albums, remixes, collaborations, and works in a variety of artistic disciplines. His most recent album “Immunity” achieved great success being nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2013 and was praised unanimously by critics and audiences alike. Hopkins has also worked closely with Brian Eno and has been recruited as a producer by David Holmes and Coldplay, whom he supported for 6 months on their 2008 world tour.

Joining the legend will be Fantastic Man, Trinity, Planéte, Phondupe and U-Khan to round out the Australian contingent of this line up.

Fantastic Man returns to Sydney for 1 very special show before he heads back to the mecca for electronic music, Berlin. Fantastic Man aka Mic Newman started as a tongue in cheek alias that has developed into something that is far more difficult to pin down. Newman’s productions have been featured on DJ Kicks compilations and has landed in countless record bags including Giles Peterson and Larry Heard.
