Rodriguez Announces National Support Acts

Demand for legendary singer-songwriter Rodriguez’s Australian Tour tickets surpassed all expectations when they went on sale in late August, and now Archie Roach, Little May and Jen Cloher have each been confirmed to open select shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

In Perth, Archie Roach, Little May and Fox Cat Rabbit have already been announced as the support acts for all three Kings Park & Botanic Garden shows (November 6, 7 and 9).

Archie Roach

Archie Roach will open the Brisbane Riverstage show on October 17, and The Plenary show in Melbourne on November 15, as well as play all three Kings Park & Botanic Garden shows (November 6, 7 and 9).

This beloved and admired Australian artist whose iconic song, ‘Took the Children Away’, was added to the National Film and Sound Archive’s Sounds of Australia collection in 2013 has become a powerful voice for indigenous Australians and is one of this country’s greatest storytellers.

Archie’s career has spanned three decades. His work has been recognised locally and internationally, in mainstream and indigenous circles. He has shared the stage with some of the world’s most iconic artists, including Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Billy Bragg, Paul Simon, Joan Armatrading, Suzanne Vega and Patti Smith. He has released 10 albums and in recent months a box set, ‘Creation’, a retrospective of his first four albums.

His music speaks the stories of his people, of this land and of the human condition. Archie’s voice – uniquely Australian and undeniably universal – continues to resonate for us all.

Little May

Little May will open the sold out Palais Theatre show in Melbourne on November 2, and the sold out State Theatre shows in Sydney on November 4 and 12, as well as play all three Kings Park & Botanic Garden shows (November 6, 7 and 9).

Sydney-based band, Little May, with only three tracks under their collective belts have acquired over a million Soundcloud plays, been added to high rotation on Triple J and topped the Hype Machine chart (twice) and the AirIT charts for community radio with their sophomore single ‘Hide’.

Predicted as one of Australia’s hottest break out acts of 2014, Little May have transformed our perception of folk, delivering hauntingly beautiful harmonies that have teetered on the very precipice of otherworldly darkness.

Jen Cloher

Jen Cloher will open the sold out Brisbane Convention Centre show on October 19, as well as the Melbourne Palais Theatre shows on October 25 and 26 (sold out), and the Adelaide Entertainment Centre show on October 29.

After graduating from acting at NIDA Jen decided to pursue a career in music. Her first album ‘Dead Wood Falls’ was nominated for an ARIA for Best Female Artist. Her second album ‘Hidden Hands’ was named as one of the top ten releases of 2009 by The AGE and nominated for three AGE EG Awards including Best Song and Best Album. Her third record ‘In Blood Memory’ was released in May 2013 through Milk Records and recently made the final shortlist for The Australian Music Prize, Australia’s most prestigious music award.
